Flagship social cut
Reel One

Case study · Social video & motion design · 2026
Eleven vertical films built for the first three seconds. Raw footage turned into hook-driven, high-retention content through storyboarding, rhythm editing, motion graphics, cinematic grading and sound design.
01 — Project overview
A social reel does not get an introduction. It arrives mid-scroll, muted, competing with everything else on the feed. So the work is not decoration — it is a retention problem solved with craft.
Across these nine films the approach stayed constant: blend cinematic visuals, motion design, typography and storytelling so the content is understood in silence, felt at full volume, and remembered after the thumb moves on.
04 — The work
Tap any frame to play. Audio is off by default — every cut is built to read muted first.

Founder story
A short founder film cut tight — one belief, one proof, one close, with titles that carry the message when muted.

Leadership feature
Interview footage restructured so the strongest line opens the reel instead of arriving at the end.

Long-form feature
The extended read. Three clear beats with pace and sound shifts at each turn so a 100-second watch still feels short.

Testimonial cut
Shortest film in the set: one claim, one quotable frame, built to survive a screenshot.

Personal brand
Built around a repeatable opening lockup so every future upload on the account is recognisable at thumbnail size.

Authority film
Portrait-first grade: warm skin, cooled surroundings, so the subject stays the brightest thing in frame.

Personal brand
One repeatable title system, so the account's grid reads as a single body of work.

05 — Objective
The first 3 seconds carry the whole edit — motion, face, or a claim, never a logo.
Cut density rises as the clip runs, so leaving always feels early.
One type system, one grade, one sound signature across every upload.
Motion graphics do the talking when the audio plays muted.
One quotable frame per reel, designed to survive a screenshot.
06 — Creative approach
Every timeline was structured before a clip was cut. The beat sheet below is the skeleton behind all nine films — timings shift, the shape does not.
Hook frame — motion or face, zero context needed
Promise — the reason to stay, stated in one line
Proof — b-roll, data, or the quote that earns trust
Turn — pace change, new angle, new sound texture
Pay-off — the quotable frame built for screenshots
Loop-safe outro so the replay counts
07 — Editing process
Audience, platform behaviour and the single message the film must land. Reference boards before timelines.
Beat sheet with a marked hook, mid-turn and pay-off, so the edit is planned rather than discovered.
Assembly, selects, then a rhythm pass where every cut is justified by sound or motion.
Animated titles, icons and callouts built in After Effects as reusable, brand-locked components.
Balance, then a consistent look — warm skin, controlled highlights, deep but never crushed shadows.
Music mapped to the beat sheet, transitions supported by whooshes and impacts, dialogue cleaned and levelled.
Vertical masters optimised for Reels, Shorts and LinkedIn, with caption-safe margins baked in.
Planned edits
beat lucky ones.
08 — Craft pillars
Titles, icons and callouts animate with weight and easing rather than dropping in — motion carries meaning, not just movement.
One condensed display face, one UI face. Words appear on the stressed syllable so type and speech feel like the same instrument.
Balance, isolate skin, then a shared look across every reel so an account's grid reads as one body of work.
Music selected for its drops, transitions supported by risers and impacts, dialogue de-noised and levelled for phone speakers.
Match cuts, whip pans and masked wipes — always motivated by something already moving in the frame.
Caption-safe margins, loop-friendly endings and per-platform exports through Media Encoder.

11 — My role
End-to-end ownership: concept and beat sheet through to graded, mixed, platform-ready masters.
12 — Outcome
Every creative decision — cut length, type weight, grade, sound placement — was made in service of storytelling and retention. The result is a consistent body of vertical content that communicates clearly, looks premium, and performs across modern social platforms.
